Salmon Spread

There’s something special about creating something new from what’s left in the fridge. That’s exactly how this delicious Salmon Spread came to be! I had one leftover salmon fillet from dinner and decided to mix up a simple spread — and oh my, it turned out amazing! My family loved it so much that it disappeared in no time. Creamy, flavorful, and so easy to make, this spread is now officially on our “make again soon” list.
It’s a wonderful way to turn leftover salmon into a brand-new dish. The combination of flaky salmon, smooth cream cheese, tangy tartar sauce, and a splash of lemon creates a perfect harmony of flavors. Served on crusty bread and topped with fresh veggies, it makes a beautiful open-faced sandwich or a quick snack that feels extra special.
Salmon Spread Recipe:
Ingredients (makes about 4 servings):
- 1 cooked salmon fillet (about 4 oz)
- 4 oz (½ block) cream cheese
- 3 tablespoons tartar sauce (use my homemade recipe)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- ¼ small onion, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese, tartar sauce, and lemon juice until smooth and creamy using an electric mixer.
- Add the chopped onion and flaked salmon, then stir gently until well combined.
- Spread onto slices of crusty bread, toast, or crackers.
- Garnish with fresh vegetables — sliced cucumber, cherry tomatoes, or herbs add a lovely touch.
Tips:
- You can use any kind of cooked salmon.
- For a lighter version, substitute light cream cheese or Greek yogurt.
- Add a sprinkle of dill or freshly ground black pepper for extra flavor.
