Irresistible Banana Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies: A Crowd-Pleasing Recipe

Plus, with the added goodness of ripe bananas, these cookies offer a natural sweetness that pairs harmoniously with rich chocolate chips. Recipe (approximately 45 cookies):

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of butter or margarine (cold)
  • 1 1/2 cups tightly packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 very ripe mashed banana
  • 4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbs milk
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of wheat whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 1/2 cups of quick oats
  • 2 1/2 cups of chocolate chips

Directions:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, using a hand-held electric mixer, beat together the butter and sugars until creamy and well combined.

  • Add the mashed banana (mash using a fork) and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture, continuing to beat until smooth.

  • Pour in the milk and beat until fully incorporated.

  • In a separate medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, and quick oats. Mix well.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. If the dough seems too wet, add more flour and oats as needed until it reaches a slightly dry consistency.

  • Add Chocolate chips, mix well.

  • Using rounded tablespoons of dough, form balls and place them onto the prepared baking sheets. Flatten each ball slightly with the palm of your hand.

  • Bake in the preheated oven to 375 F for approximately 12 minutes, or until the bottoms of the cookies are golden brown. Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and transfer them to a cooling wire rack to cool completely.
