Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • ½ cup sugar (for syrup)
  • ½ cup water
  • ½–1 cup extra sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

1. Make a Simple Syrup

In a small saucepan, heat:

  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup sugar

Warm over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
Do NOT boil — you want the syrup warm, not hot.

2. Coat the Cranberries

Remove the syrup from heat.
Add:

  • 1 cup fresh cranberries

Stir gently to coat.
Let them sit in the warm syrup for 5–10 minutes.

3. Dry the Cranberries

Using a slotted spoon, lift the cranberries onto:

  • a wire rack (best), or
  • parchment paper

Let them dry for 30–45 minutes.
They should feel tacky, not wet.

4. Roll in Sugar

Place granulated sugar in a shallow dish.
Roll a handful of tacky cranberries at a time until fully coated.

5. Let Them Set

Place the sugared cranberries back onto parchment and let them dry fully for 1 hour.

⭐ Tips for Perfect Sugared Cranberries

  • Use superfine sugar for an extra sparkly, snowy look.
  • If using regular sugar, you can pulse it in a blender or food processor to make it finer.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temp for 1–2 days.
  • If they start weeping, roll them in sugar again to refresh.
  • Use them as a decoration for Pumpkin Cranberry swirl bread with Maple Glaze or creamy Pumpkin Dip.

Enjoy, and happy holidays!
