Halloween Bat Cookies
Halloween Bat Cookies – Spooky, Cute, and Delicious!
Looking for a fun, no-bake Halloween treat? These adorable Halloween Bat Cookies are the perfect spooky addition to your holiday table! Made with Oreo cookies, cream cheese, and candy coating, they’re not only cute but also incredibly delicious. Best of all, this recipe makes 30 adorable bats, so there’s plenty to go around for your Halloween festivities!
Ingredients:
- 1 package (1 lb.) Oreo cookies
- 8 oz Cream cheese, softened
- 12 oz Chocolate candy coating
- 60 Candy eyeballs
Instructions:
- Prepare the Bat Wings:
- Start by separating 15 Oreo sandwiches and removing all the cream filling (save it for later!). You’ll be left with 30 individual cookies. Using a cutting board, serrated knife and light pressure, carefully cut each cookie in half to create 60 “bat wings.
- Make the Oreo Balls:
- Place the remaining whole Oreo cookies and removed cream filling into a food processor along with the cream cheese. Blend until the mixture is smooth and well combined. The dough should be soft but easy to shape.
- Form the Bat Bodies:
- Roll the Oreo mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. You should end up with around 30 Oreo balls. Place them on a lined baking sheet and chill them in the fridge for about 30-60 minutes, or until they firm up.
- Coat the Oreo Balls:
- Melt the chocolate candy coating according to the package instructions. Once your Oreo balls are chilled, dip each one into the melted chocolate, making sure it’s fully coated. Gently shake off any excess chocolate using a fork.
- Assemble the Bats:
- While the chocolate is still soft, press two bat wings (the Oreo halves) onto each side of the coated Oreo ball. Hold them in place for a few seconds until the chocolate firms up and keeps the wings attached. For the final spooky touch, use a toothpick to dab a bit of melted chocolate on the back of the candy eyeballs, and place them on the Oreo balls to give your bats their creepy-cute eyes!
- Let them Set:
- Allow the bats to set completely, either by letting them sit at room temperature or placing them in the fridge for a faster process. Once the chocolate is firm, your Halloween Bat Cookies are ready to serve!
Tips for Perfect Bats:
- Chill Time is Key: Don’t rush the chilling process. If your Oreo balls are too soft, the wings may not stay in place as easily. Giving them a full hour in the fridge helps ensure they hold their shape.
- Work Quickly with the Candy Coating: When coating the Oreo balls and attaching the wings, work quickly while the chocolate is still soft. If it hardens too fast, simply reheat it for a few seconds to make it pliable again.
- Variation Ideas: Get creative with the candy eyeballs! Use colored candy melts or edible gel to add a fun pop of color to the bats’ eyes. Or, for a darker twist, try using black candy melts for a gothic, spooky look.
Conclusion:
These Halloween Bat Cookies are guaranteed to be a hit at any Halloween party! Not only are they fun to make, but their combination of crunchy Oreo wings, creamy centers, and sweet candy coating makes them irresistible. They’ll definitely disappear quickly—just like bats in the night!
