This Football Cookie Cake is the ultimate Super Bowl dessert—easy, fun, and guaranteed to impress your guests! Made from a classic chocolate chip cookie dough baked in a round pan, this dessert is cleverly reshaped into a football and decorated with rich chocolate frosting and signature “stitching.” It’s festive, crowd-pleasing, and perfect for game day celebrations.
Ingredients
Cookie Cake:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips
Frosting & Decoration:
- 1 1/2–2 cups chocolate frosting (store-bought or homemade)
- White frosting or white chocolate (for football stitching)
Instructions
- Bake the cookie cake:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a round pie pan.
Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Mix flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually add to wet ingredients. Fold in chocolate chips.
Press dough evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 22–26 minutes, until edges are set and center is just baked. Cool completely. - Shape the football:
Carefully remove the cookie cake from the pan.
Cut a 2–3 inch strip from the center of the circle.
Gently push the remaining sides together to form a football shape. (Trim edges if needed.) - Frost:
Spread chocolate frosting evenly over the entire cookie cake (recipe bellow). - Add stitching:
Use white frosting or melted white chocolate to pipe football laces across the top (recipe bellow). - Serve:
Chill slightly to set the frosting, then slice and serve.

Tips & Tricks
- Don’t overbake: A slightly soft center keeps the cookie cake chewy.
- Easy stitching: Use a zip-top bag with the corner snipped off if you don’t have piping bags.
- Make ahead: Bake the cookie a day in advance and decorate before serving.
- OR… use a store-bought / premade cookie dough and follow the instructions on the box.
Enjoy!
🍫 Chocolate Frosting (Perfect for Cookie Cakes)
This easy chocolate frosting is creamy, chocolatey, and just the right consistency for spreading and decorating. It sets beautifully on cookie cakes and holds its shape without being too stiff.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup milk or heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Cream the butter:
In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter until smooth and creamy using an electric mixer. - Add cocoa:
Mix in the cocoa powder until fully combined. - Add sugar & liquid:
Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating on low speed until smooth and spreadable. - Flavor & adjust:

If frosting is too thick, add a splash of milk. If too thin, add more powdered sugar.
Tips & Tricks
- Extra rich: Use heavy cream instead of milk for a silkier texture.
- Piping-ready: Chill for 10–15 minutes if you want sharper football stitching lines.
- Make ahead: Store covered in the fridge for up to 3 days; bring to room temperature before using.
- OR… use a store-bought frosting.
